Guardian Bells. The tradition likely traces back to World War II. Fighter pilots, plagued by hallucinations and exhaustion, reported seeing mischievous creatures—“gremlins”—trying to sabotage their aircraft. To ward them off, some hung small bells in their cockpits. After the war, many veterans brought this superstition home to their motorcycles. The bell is thought to ward off evil spirits and mechanical failures. It is a cherished symbol between motorcycle riders. Gift Only: Buying one for yourself is considered bad luck. It must be received as a gift to activate its protective magic.
