As with all handmade hand painted items there may sometimes be minor flaws, but the overall look is always quite beautiful. You would be getting the actual item shown in the pictures. TALAVERA Talavera is a bit more expensive than the chemically treated mass manufactured dyed & treated clays that are available more cheaply from overseas. Talavera from Mexico only uses natural clays, it is 100% lead free & totally food safe. Talavera items are hand crafted in a process that takes 3 to 4 months and it's a risky business in that a piece can easily break at any time during the process. Out Talavera products are also hand painted by skilled Mexican artisans and they go through 2 firings. The finished products are chip resistant, microwaveable, and can be cleaned easily in your dishwashers.
